16 RULES FOR ORGANIZING YOUR SPACE THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR LIFE

1. Give each item its own place

The ability to put things in their proper place makes the difference between people who constantly lose their keys, glasses or wallet and those who always know where to find what they need. When each item has its own "home," there is no question of where to put something. And if some thing constantly remains "homeless", think about whether you need it at all.

2. Replace one thing with another

When you bring something new into the house - whether it's clothes, a toy, or a book - take a close look at everything you already have. You may have a T-shirt in your closet that you haven't worn in a year, so a new item can take its place. You can give your old clothes to charity, for example.

3. Put small things in the same place

Set aside a drawer in your closet for small items. Put the things you need that you have nowhere else to put. Try not to let one drawer turn into several. If it does, it's time to clear out the clutter and throw away what you don't need.

4. Store small things in large ones

Instead of spending hours thinking about how to fit everything in your closet, put things together. This way, they'll take up less space, and they'll be much easier to find. For example, you can stow smaller suitcases in larger suitcases.

5. Store things vertically

When you're short on space, you can put things on the fridge or on the kitchen cabinets. Yes, you'll have to get up on a chair or mini ladder to get everything out, but you won't clutter up useful space with things you don't use too often.

6. Use hooks

Attach as many hooks as you can to the inside of doors, walls, and other places where you need extra space. Now instead of throwing your jacket on your chair after a day's work or putting your towel on the washing machine, you can hang them up neatly.

7. Try a hanging shoe organizer

This is a very effective element of space organization. It holds a lot of things and can also be placed in a narrow space, such as a closet. You don't have to put shoes in the organizer - keep cleaning products, toys, cosmetics or anything else in it.

8. Clean up on your own time

Got a few minutes to spare? Get rid of things you don't need. Organized people don't wait for a general cleaning - they take every opportunity to make the space around them at least a little cleaner.

9. Put away children's and pets' toys

Put 50-75% of toys away in a closet so they aren't lying around the house. And once your child or pet gets bored with old toys, you can replace them with "new" toys.

10. Buy things with extra storage space

When choosing new furniture, pay attention to models with special storage drawers. They will make your life much easier.

11. Be organized and chaotic at the same time

Even if you're not a neat person by nature, the creative chaos around you can always be made more organized. For example, put your shoes in a large wicker basket, leave gloves and hats in special organizers, or keep all your remotes in a pretty vase.

12. Follow the "shopping bag rule"

Always keep one shopping bag in the house to put things you no longer need in it. Once it's full, give everything to charity or recycling.

13. Adhere to minimalism

The basic principle of minimalism is to surround yourself with only those things you absolutely need. The fewer items in the house, the easier it is to organize your space. Be guided by minimalism when shopping and try not to buy too much.

14. Don't be sentimental

We often fall into the trap of nostalgia, which keeps us from getting rid of memorable but completely unnecessary items. Learn to let go - after all, they're just things.

15. Get creative

You don't have to use things for their intended purpose. For example, if you have a large family and everyone has their own umbrella, you can put them in a large vase or champagne bucket. This will diversify the interior and make the space neater.

16. Don't follow patterns

Don't limit yourself - any item can be used however you like. For example, keep your jewelry in small compartments in a toolbox and your bag collection on a bookshelf.
